Arjun Bajaj, the CEO and Founder of Daiwa, says feeling frustrated in this lockdown period, is quite natural, however, that does not mean one can compromise health and fitness.

Sharing his fitness routine with ET Panache, the television brand boss said, “Keeping that mantra alive in me, I have found my own unique routine, to keep myself motivated and also stay fit. I have hooked myself to YouTube fitness channels and several fitness apps, which comes with handy guides on indoor workouts. Whether you are willing to pay for an app or find free options, the choices are now endless.”

The transition from ‘work from office’ to ‘work from home’ has not been very easy for Bajaj. He is thankful to the digital age for being able to adapt to a new routine. “We have geared our ecosystem with all the necessary tools such as cloud-based frameworks, VPNs, texting, Skype, Zoom call conferencing, etc to keep the team and ongoing operations connected. These tools have created a seamless communication flow between the employees and the leadership team enabling them to work upon the critical areas and cover up lost opportunities effectively.”

Work from home could be emotionally and mentally challenging. So, as an alternative, Daiwa hosts team building exercises and connects virtually once a week or so to catch up with the employees assuring them that they are all in this together.

In terms of working out, Bajaj has been enjoying virtual training sessions, balancing it with right food intake, which otherwise is quite disorganised, with his work travel.

The experience of working from home has a mixed response at the moment, Bajaj shared because of the uncertainty looming. “WFH has helped me with more time at disposal, since the working situation is under my control. Working remotely, has helped me to be more focused and productive, without the worry of co-workers stopping by for ‘just a quick question’,” he shared.

The last few days have been a complete uncharted territory for the company. “In this time period, we have realised that flexibility to any business is extremely critical. Another thing which I have learnt in this time period, is that it’s not just about the CEOs or leadership teams’ preparedness during crisis situations, it is about creating an ecosystem which can help businesses to work together. During the WFH period, I realised that patience and decisive thinking is the only route to any path of success,” Bajaj ended.
